About Us
Chris BoothChris has been an island resident for the past eighteen years. Chris worked in banking when she first came to this island. She acquired her first personal dog at that time (Lieba, a female Doberman). She later adopted Barron (an abused male Doberman). After many joyous years with Lieba and Barron, they went to heaven. At this point, Chris was employed with the Law Firm of Eugene "Dean" Laurich (nka Laurich & Wiseman, P.A.). Chris also married Chip Booth (previous Assistant Tournament Director for the Heritage Golf Tournament). She has now been married for twelve years AND COUNTING! Chip and Chris obtained three Coton de Tulear’s (Jolie, Jasmine and Jesse) from Spain, Hungary and Hungary respectively. After much sole searching, Chris decided to leave Laurich & Wiseman, P.A. to pursue her dream of working with dogs. Chris left in June of 2006 to attend a rigorous three-month dog trainers program from Triple Crown Dog Academy in Hutto, Texas. Chris can not express her gratitude to the instructors for her life altering experience. After staying an additional two months in Texas (to continue her education), Chris came home with her new demo dog Beau (an Austrian Sheppard puppy). Now Chris is looking forward to helping many dog owners in the Low Country with their Canine needs.

What our clients are saying about us.....
"We have an 8-month old
Chihuahua-Toy Poodle mix named Daisy, who is very active and eager to learn and
please. When we decided to talk to a trainer, we already felt that we
had a pretty good dog and that we just had a few items that we wanted some help
with, such as coming when called and being pleasant and respectable in public.
After seeing how they interacted with Daisy and how they interacted with us
during our consultation, we knew we had chosen the right trainers. In just the
first visit, Chris gave us useful tools and training tips that we could easily
implement with our dog and into our life. We learned that it wasn’t just about
training Daisy, it was also about changing a lot of misconceptions we had about
how we should interact with Daisy. Their techniques make training fun for us as
well as Daisy. It was amazing that within just a few sessions, Daisy was
learning the things we wanted to work on and so much more.
Daisy gets so excited each time she sees Chris."

"I
have three “boys”. One of the two-legged variety
who is 16 years old and a high school sophomore. His name is Harry.
He thinks he’s the man of the house. Next is Riley. Of the
four-legged variety and coming in at just under 10 pounds, he knows he’s the
man of the house. Finally, there’s Kazoo. A young upstart and
technically just out of puppy hood, this four point nine pound fireball acts like
he’s the man of the house. Then there’s me. I cook, clean, do
laundry, work, pay bills, take care of everyone else, and this IS MY HOUSE.
Somehow,
I seemed to have lost sight of the fact that my house is MINE. I was too
busy trying to get everyone to behave to have any time to correct the negative
behaviors that were taking all the fun out of having the dogs in the first
place. The human boy was the easy one. Make the Honor Roll or you
don’t get to drive the car. Now I have an Honor Roll student. My
four-legged boys weren’t as easy. Riley barked ALL the time. He
barked when someone walked by the front of the house. He barked when I was
on the phone. He barked just to hear himself bark sometimes, or at least
that’s what I was thinking. Then there was the problem of any male
coming into the house. Riley would nip – no, bite. Embarrassing?
You bet. Kazoo…well, he’s pretty much perfect except for the fact that
the little guy doesn’t know the difference between the grass in the backyard
and the carpet in my bedroom. Riley was housebroken in two days.
Kazoo was a year old and still didn’t know the difference between Berber and
I
called Chris. I’d like to be able to say that money wasn’t
an issue. Unfortunately, I can’t. We live on a budget, and a very
tight one at that. For a very reasonable fee I got the very best for my
boys. At first, they got 10-15 minute visits every day, then every other
day, and I was charged just for the actual time spent with the dogs.
I couldn’t believe how smart they really were and how fast they learned
– especially Riley…five years old and set in his ways, or so I thought.
Riley’s barking has stopped, and Kazoo is housebroken. They both know
basic commands, and Kazoo even knows how to do a few tricks! We
integrated Harry into the training so that Riley, who is skittish by nature,
would be less afraid of Harry. The bad habits
are gone and my house is mine again!

"We recently purchased a one year old labradoodle, cute, friendly, but still very unmanageable with immature and puppyish behaviors. It's been fun for "Skipper", Jim and I to work with Chris on teaching Skipper to be a social member of our family - walking on a leash without pulling, sits and stays, no jumping, no barking, and being respectful of our other pets without rough-housing.
Chris has been very adept in not only sensing Skipper's personality and learning skills, but to adapt his training needs and the techniques used to the differences in styles and personalities of both Jim and myself, and to the operational patterns of our household in general.
Chris explains and demonstrates all techniques in great detail and answers questions or modifies them if needed. We all look forward to seeing Chris and our training sessions!
Skipper is now a social dog and happy member of our family. A "win/win" for all of us!"

"Chris has been really, really nice to
Leo, our Golden Retriever puppy, & to us. We saw new skills
& improvements in Leo after the first session & he has continued
to learn more & improve with each session. Chris asks for email updates
each night, so she knows what is working & what is not. If one
technique is not working, she will try another, until she finds what works
best for Leo. She is teaching us how to teach Leo to be the good boy he wants
to be. She is warm & loving to Leo & he is very Happy to spend time
with her. Most of the time Chris has the different collars, leashes, toys,
& treats, that she wants to try out, making it easy to see what will
work right away. She has gone out of her way to shop & bring me what she
did not have, or what I needed more of. She has been flexible & easy to
work with. Her love for animals shines through.
We cannot say enough nice things about
Chris & the great job she is doing.
Thank you, Chris!"

"Jake is our adorable, lovable 16-month-old Golden Retriever.
He was a pretty perfect young puppy, flew through obedience school and was
delightful to have with us. Then he turned into a "teenager" and
developed selective deafness. We tried every trick learned from obedience
school. Then in desperation we called Chris.
From that first visit, I knew we'd found just the
right person to teach me how to best teach Jake. Chris spent time with
him, learning his personality and how he'd best learn. We had 2 big
leaning needs. Jake's need to play with other dogs and people was much
stronger than his need to respond to us! He didn't seem to grasp that
other humans did not appreciate his jumping up to lick their nose! And he
would not come to us when called if he had something better to do.
Chris tried lots of methods and was so patient and
positive. She wouldn't give up (nor let me give up). He now can walk
the beach with no leash, comes when called, and is so much better about not
sharing his doggie kisses with everyone! We still have work to do, but now
I have the skills to help Jake be the good boy he really wants to be.
And Jake really thanks Chris for leaning the best
treats for him! He loves those chicken dogs!!
Thanks, Chris, for helping us have a healthy, happy, polite Golden!"

Chris,
Jim
and I want to thank you for all you have done to train our stubborn silky
terrier, Chauncy. We had done everything we had read in books, other
training @ PetSmart, and all we knew from our two previous silkies - all to
no avail. He has responded to your training like no other. It is
obvious that you are a more than dedicated trainer, and we really
appreciate your daily concerns for Chauncy's training improvement. Thanks
for all your help!

"I am very happy with the training Wally
and Willy have received. I think your love of dogs is evident to anyone who
watches you with them, and the dogs seem to feel it, too. Your interest and
involvement go beyond what most other trainers would do. My dogs are responding,
and I'm hopeful that sometime in the not too distant future they'll be
well-behaved, canine citizens.

"We are very happy that we found Chris to
train my mother’s dog, Max. Max was aggressive toward strangers and
especially toward other dogs. Walking him on a leash was a chore because
he pulled so hard. My mother is 87 years old and visually impaired.
Max is a wonderful companion for her, but was a handful. Our vet
recommended that we call Chris and we’re glad we did. Max is much calmer
now; he doesn’t scare people who come to visit and it’s much easier to walk
him on a leash. He is still aggressive toward other dogs on occasion, but
not as often and his reaction is much more subdued. Chris is continuing to
work with him and we expect that in a few more sessions she can help him
completely overcome any aggressive behavior.
Chris is a kind and effective trainer. Max loves her and we feel like she’s a friend. Her prices are very reasonable and she is flexible and accommodating when scheduling visits. We enjoy working with Chris to train our little mutt. She has made a major difference in his manners."

"You have been an amazing instructor and resource to both Justin and I and a great teacher for both Saint and Miles. I really feel like we have 2 great pups that want nothing more than to please us. You have shown us the beauty of how gentle an e-collar can be and how to use it appropriately. We consider ourselves lucky to have found an instructor that cares about our boys as if they were her own."

"Chris
worked with my golden retriever Lilah to improve her behavior on the beach.
Lilah now comes to me every time I call even with the distractions of other dogs
and people. Her entire demeanor has changed with me being her focus.
Delilah
stayed with Chris @ her home for 1 week over New Years. Lilah received a lot
more individual attention from Chris than she would at the kennel and the accommodations
were great. I would not hesitate to leave Lilah with Chris at any time. Lilah
loves her!
I'm really glad I discovered you Chris...Lilah and I are very lucky."

"Your training skills have
resulted in my being able to take Katie (13
month old Weimaraner)
for a two and half mile run on the
beach every morning. She is totally free and under voice command and loves
every minute of her run. She will “stay by me” whenever a runner approaches
or a dog comes to say hello and will not leave my side. She has the
freedom to roam the dunes or walk the water’s edge, but when I call
“Katie”, she comes running to me. We do this walk in 45 minutes.
None of this would have been possible without you, a professional trainer.
Firmly yet lovingly, you trained her through reward and not punishment and
you never hurried the process.
I learned so much from
you, Chris, and because of your special talent, Katie and I can enjoy our
sunrise walks on beautiful
